New College dance student pursues lifelong ambition after being accepted into prestigious Performing Arts college

New College Pontefract prides itself on the support it gives to students, not only with the courses they study whilst they are with us but also with the advice and encouragement they get whilst exploring their progression to universities, colleges, apprenticeships and employment.

Rebecca Johnson, a Year 13 student who recently completed her two years of study at New College, is just one example of a student who has benefitted from that support. Following the support and guidance from her curriculum teachers and careers staff, Rebecca successfully applied to three of the top independent Performing Arts colleges in the country, finally selecting Laine Theatre Arts in Surrey as the institution where she will continue her vocational training.

Careers Lead at New College, Helen Lonsdale, praised the institution: “Laine Theatre Arts has a proven track record of success and is known for its links with dance companies, the music industry, and with many students going on to appear in the West End. We wish Rebecca lots of luck in the future!”
