GCSE Maths is a stimulating and challenging course that can be completed within one year. All students without a Grade C (or better) in GCSE Maths are required to study this.

What are the entry requirements?
Normal college entry requirements.
What skills do I need?
Recall and use of mathematical facts and techniques
Ability to apply mathematics to real life contexts
Efficient use of a calculator
How will I be taught?
The classes will be taught usually by one teacher using a variety of methods. Some computer facilities are available both in class and on the College network.
How is the course assessed?
Students will sit either the Higher or Foundation Level exam in November and will not need to continue lessons beyond January if they achieve a C. If they do not get Grade C there is a further opportunity to sit the exam in May/June.
What will this course prepare me for?
A ’C’ grade in GCSE Mathematics is expected for most university courses. It is useful to have on any CV as many employers will require it.
Private Study
As an approximate guideline AS subjects require 3-4 hrs of independent study each; A2 subjects 4-5 hrs each and GCSE subjects 2 hrs each.
What materials will I need to purchase?
Students are expected to have basic mathematical equipment and their own scientific calculator.
