SLT – Richard Fletcher

Richard Fletcher

As Principal I am responsible for ensuring the quality of your student experience.  This means providing you with high quality teaching and learning and first class pastoral support to enable you to achieve your goals and develop lifelong skills, confidence and knowledge.  I lead an energetic and committed senior team who are passionate about making sure you get the very best out of your time with us.  Each of them has a distinct responsibility for a different aspect of your “Learning Journey”, your transition from school to college, the support and guidance you will need whilst with us, your experience in and out of the classroom, and to provide excellent facilities and resources.  Ultimately, the senior leadership team’s number one aim is to ensure you have an outstanding experience and are successful.  Your success is at the heart of our planning and we will regularly ask for your views and act on them.

Before being appointed Principal, I was Vice Principal at the college.  Prior to working at New College I worked at Castleford High School for 10 years where I was Assistant Headteacher, responsible for whole college achievement.  Before that I worked in Huddersfield as a PE teacher.

Out of college I spend most of my time socialising with family and friends.  I also enjoy camping, veterans’ rugby, golf and many different sports.  I also try to keep fit by running and visiting the gym when I get chance.
