NEW College student wins Young Champions award For Equality and Diversity

NEW College student Pegah Moulana won the Young Champions Award at the Inspiring Change Award ceremony at the Horizon College this month.

The awards were part of the celebration of International Women’s Day and the Gender Equality Forum in Barnsley and the surrounding area.

There were six categories altogether and Pegah, who studies, Government and Politics at the sixth form college, successfully took the Young Champions Award for her dedicated work at representing equality and diversity for youth in the area.

The  event  was  funded  by  Barnsley  Council through  a  Community  Equality  Grant with  representatives from the Council, South Yorkshire Police, Berneslai Homes and South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation  Trust taking part.

Speaking of her award, Pegah said: “I have always passionately enjoyed to represent equality and diversity from the early age; and after working towards improving education system for Black Ethnic Minority in this country, winning this award helped me to achieve my aims. My aim is equality.”
