Student Awarded Highest Honour in Cadet Forces

New College student, Chloe Grieves has been awarded the appointment of Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadet in recognition of her outstanding service in the army cadet force.

She was one of only 12 cadets chosen from 8,500 in Yorkshire and the Humber to be given the Lord Lieutenant’s Certificate. She was awarded it by Brigadier John Wardle at the Army Cadet Training Centre in Strensall, York.

Chloe said: “It’s a great honour to receive this award, and it’ll certainly ensure my final year in the army cadet force will be one to remember. It also a great honour to represent my county and hopefully I will inspire others.”

Her other achievements include receiving a BTEC in Public Services with Distinction from NEW College and  Chloe also helps with fundraising events for the Royal British Legion as well as working with schools on an anti-bullying campaign.

Lt Col Jeremy Bleasdale, deputy chief executive of the Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ Association in Yorkshire and the Humber, said: “I’m delighted for Chloe who is a shining example of what can be achieved when young people involve themselves in extra-curricular activities.”
