NEW College Pontefract students are regional indoor cricket champions once again after winning the finals at Headingley.
NEW College saw off Barnsley in the first round and Blackburn College in the semi-final, before beating Bolton in a competitive final where the team successfully chased 47 with 2 balls to spare.
The team was made up of: Connor Fisher, who displayed outstanding batting; Jonny Henshaw, demonstrating some excellent wicket keeping; Matty Taylor, who gave a great all round display; Josh Liddle, who was calm under pressure when batting; Liam Hyde, who produced a great performance in the field; Ed Morrison, delivering some fantastic spin bowling; Connor Hyde, who was a great all-rounder; and James Logan, who captained the side superbly well.
NEW College Coach, Leon Sacks said: “This win is once again a fantastic achievement for the team and the College. It sets us up well to defend our regional indoor title at Huddersfield New College in March.”
