NEW College sports teams took part in battle of the teams early this month, competing against each other in a variety of activities, and all hoping to come out on top and be named ‘Team of the Year’, at this year’s sports awards.
The teams competing included the netball team, the boys’ basketball team, the girls’ basketball team, the first, second and third football teams and the girls’ football team.
Each team were given a list of activities from which they had to nominate a team member to compete against the other teams. Winners of each challenge received 10 points for their team, with the second placed player receiving 9 points and so on.
Activities included swimming, go-karting, golf, sporting knowledge, pool, bowling, a strength test, an endurance test, a flexibility test, a hula hoop contest, a relay contest, and a group dance.
Gemma Asquith, Sports Maker at NEW College said: “It was a great contest and the students were exceptional competitors, even when it came to the relay in the rain.”
