The latest set of Department for Education 16-18 performance tables have been released this month, revealing that New College Pontefract is rated the best sixth form college in Yorkshire and the Humberside and seventh best nationally in terms of value added. This means that our students are making outstanding progress and significantly outperforming students of similar ability in other colleges.
For all providers nationally, including independent schools and colleges, the college’s value added score ranks in the top 6% of providers, both for A-Levels and vocational courses.
The college achieved the best point score per A-Level entry of all sixth form colleges in Yorkshire and the Humber. It very significantly outperformed both the national average and the performance of providers in the Wakefield area. Not only do students make outstanding progress, they also achieve outstanding grades.
The Principal, Pauline Hagen, said: “We’re very proud of the achievement of our students. As an inclusive sixth form college, to be outperforming so many selective independent schools and sixth form colleges with very high entry requirements is wonderful to see.”
She added: “I’m delighted that we have excelled in both academic and vocational programmes of study with the average BTEC grade at the very highest level. All the results are testament to the quality and passion of our teachers and the hard work and commitment of our talented students. ”
