Staff and students are putting on their most ambitious week of events yet to raise money for Sport Relief. In the build up to Friday, multiple events are taking place including staff vs student sports matches, a bake sale, pie the teacher and sponge the teacher.
There will be staff vs students’ netball, a badminton tournament at Pontefract Squash Club, a penalty shootout in the sports hall and all of this will be topped off with various sporting matches on the rugby pitches including football, rugby and netball and a sports relief quiz.
Spectators will be asked to donate and/or get involved in every event.
On Friday, March 18, Sport Relief Day, both staff and students will be running a 1 mile course around Pontefract Park.
Tom Shepherd, New College Head of Sport, said: “I am very proud of our students going this extra mile for Sport Relief. It all goes to a very good cause. We aim to raise more than £1217 that we achieved last time and to engage as many staff and students as possible throughout the week.”
