New College hosted an Oxbridge Event on Friday, 7 October, and welcomed Michael Sutherland, the Admissions Tutor for Corpus Christi College, Cambridge.
The event saw over 60 Yr11 students from six feeder schools in the region attend the outstanding sixth form College to find out more about how New College can support students in the application process to both Oxford and Cambridge universities.
The first sessions were from 10.30-11.30am and the second session began in the afternoon at 12.30 -1.30pm.
Stuart Nash, Vice Principal and Head of the Gifted and Able Programme: said: “This event is part of our new Oxbridge Programme which was set up specifically to prepare our most academically able students for the demanding interview and selection process distinctive of these two prestigious universities. We invite in speakers such as Michael Sutherland from Corpus Christi College, Cambridge to raise our students’ aspirations and dispel the myth that Oxford and Cambridge are only for students from wealthy backgrounds or educated in private schools.”
