Six students from New College Pontefract have passed their Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music grade 5 theory exams.
George Moulson, Hayley Martin, Sam Jordan, Lawrence Kirkley, Paris Mann and Alsiha Little studied for 2-3 hours per week at lunchtimes and after college as an enrichment activity. All six passed, with three being awarded a distinction.
George Moulson, who travelled to the Queen Elizabeth Grammar School in Wakefield to sit the 2 hour theory exam, said “putting in the extra work since September has really helped me with this. Gaining this qualification will now allow me to take my grade 6 piano practical examination.”
Michelle Colvill, Head of the School of Performing Arts at New College Pontefract said, “This qualification can be a requirement to get onto certain university courses and will allow the students to progress with their music studies. They have worked really hard over these last few months. We are all really proud of them”.
