Seven-time Super League champion Kevin Sinfield paid a visit to New College Pontefract this week to talk to students and share the benefits of his wide experience in the sport.
Kevin led an insightful and inspirational question and answer session with members of the college’s rugby league team, the Pontefract Titans. Students were able to put their questions to one of the most experienced players in the modern era, and were given a chance to listen to stories about what it is like being a professional sporting athlete, the sacrifices that have to be made to achieve greatness, and how Kevin has prepared for life after his playing career. After the session, he donned his boots once again to lead a kicking masterclass on the pitch with the students.
Talking about the event, Kevin said that it was great to be back on the field again and to help out and support the team in what is such a big rugby league area.
This has already been a busy week for the Titans that has seen New College Pontefract renew their allegiance with Featherstone Rovers as a Cat 3 Academy. The aim of the RFL backed program is to provide high quality coaching and education to 16-19 students that are not part of a professional program already.
If any person or organization is interested in sponsoring the team, please get in contact with Andy Petch at the college andrew.petch@ncpontefract.ac.uk.
