Superb singing, magnificent musicians and dramatic dancing! New College Pontefract’s annual theatrical production took place between the 4th-6th July. This year the production was of the musical ‘Footloose’ and featured an extravagant 2-tier set designed and built in-house. Each of the 6 shows was a sell out and the cast also performed for high school students who attended one of the College’s taster days. Leading roles were played by Emily Truman as Arial, Beth Gabitas as Rusty, Will Leggetter as Ren, Tom Carruthers as the Reverend and John Broadhead who played Willard. Head of School for Performing Arts, Michelle Colville said “We have some truly gifted students in all areas of the Performing Arts and the wider college community. It is lovely to be able to showcase these students in a fun show at the end of the academic year.” Richard Fletcher, Principal of the College added “I can honestly say it was absolutely outstanding. Top marks to all the Preforming Arts staff and technical support and most importantly not forgetting our students who were truly amazing. They comprised of actors, actresses, dancers, singers and a live band. What a performance!
