Year 12 BTEC Business students form New College Pontefract were invited to take part in the National Enterprise Challenge sponsored by NatWest plc. The full day, that took part at the College on Park Lane on December 19th, involved the students working in groups of 3 to come up with a new business venture that would benefit the college.
They researched into the possible strengths and weaknesses of their ideas, their competitors and target market and put together a marketing plan involving the 4 Ps of Product, Price, Promotion and Place.
They then presented their ideas in a Dragon’s Den scenario in front of judges and the rest of the participants. Winners ‘Salad Fingers’ will go down to London in April to represent the college in the national finals and if they win this will receive funding to invest into their idea along with an opportunity of an all expenses stay in London while working as an intern at NatWest London HQ.
