Students from New College Pontefract’s Foundation Diploma in Art & Design course held their annual exhibition, ‘Paris in the Park’ last week. The students were allocated space in Pontefract park to install their work, with all staff and students from the college invited outside to discover all of the pieces. This weather was especially kind this year with the event taking place in glorious sunshine.
Alan Chadderton, who is one of the Foundation Diploma teachers, said, “The exhibition is an annual one originating from a week’s long residential to London and Paris. Students focus upon their chosen pathway and produce work for both their university interviews and the installation in the park. Ideas are generated from observations made during the residential, including gallery visits, personal and shared experiences and exposure to cultural differences encountered in two major capital cities.
