New College Pontefract is celebrating confirmation of an impressive five-year track record this month. The release of data by the DfE’s Education and Skills Funding Agency means that New College Pontefract is, for the fifth year in a row, in the top five of all sixth form colleges in the country for achievement.
Achievement rates are calculated by multiplying pass rates with retention rates, i.e. the number of students who stay on the course. This provides a realistic picture of how strong a provider is. The vast majority of students attending colleges at the top of the table have completed the qualifications they started.
“It is another piece of evidence that New College Pontefract continues to be one of the top performing colleges in the country,” said Richard Fletcher, Principal. “Managing to maintain a top-five position for five years shows that the college’s systems, staff and strategies are helping local young people access better university places, better training and better jobs. We are delighted to be able to make such a positive impact every year.”
