The Young Enterprise group formed in September last year and took part in a challenge organised by The Prince of Wales Hospice to create their own product to present to a group of ‘Dragons’ in order to secure funding so they could put their idea into practice.
The group came up with a number of different ideas and decided they would like to do something both sustainable and to help the environment. They presented their finalised product idea to the panel of Dragons before Christmas and secured a £50 investment which allowed them to buy materials and ‘New Nature’ was created.
The product they designed was a recycled tin, filled with compost and a wildflower seed mat and presented in a hessian bag with a gift tag designed to give people a bit of nature indoors! The group then had a retail stall at The White Rose shopping centre and also a stall in college to sell their product. The feedback they received for the product was excellent and the Hospice were delighted with the amount they raised for them.
