What are lessons like in this subject?
This course is for you if you are considering a career as an early years educator, primary teaching assistant or childminder. This T Level aims to provide students with various progression options, including higher-level studies. Students can therefore progress to primary teaching.
As part of achieving the overall T Level programme, students are required to complete a minimum of 750 hours industry placement. The industry placement is used to assess students’ Early Years Educator competencies.
Lessons are designed to be engaging, interactive and highly practical, preparing students for both further study and a future career in the education sector.
Students can expect a dynamic learning environment that combines theory with real-world application. Lessons often include collaborative group work, hands-on activities, role play and opportunities to develop key professional skills such as communication, teamwork and problem-solving.
Alongside classroom-based learning, students will take part in practical tasks that reflect real educational settings, helping them to build confidence and apply their knowledge in meaningful ways. This approach ensures that learning remains both stimulating and relevant, supporting students to develop the skills and understanding needed to succeed in working with children and young people.
What will I study?
You will study a range of elements, including:
- Supporting Education: you will learn about regulators who set standards for qualifications and practice as well as factors that influence the curriculum and practice in settings.
- Child Development: you will learn how children grow and develop. You will look at the stages and patterns of expected development from infancy to adolescence.
- Working in Partnership: you will consider the important role of parents, families and carers in the lives of babies, children and young people. You will also explore strategies to build professional relationships with parents.
This course is a really good pathway to starting your education and early years career, it sets you up for lots of different careers relevant to early years such as a teaching assistant, early years educator and it gives a solid base to move onto other careers such as social work, physical therapists, teacher ect. It allows you to gain the relevent knowledge, qualifications and experience to progress through your career in early years. I liked this course as it is very practical and allows you to gain lots of hands on experience with children in different settings.
