New College’s value-added scores for 2015 were released this week, confirming that the college’s 2015 performance cements its position as one of the very best education providers in the country. The college’s value-added places the college amongst the top 10% of schools and colleges across the country.
This means that young people across Wakefield and the Yorkshire region have some of the very best education in the country on their doorstep.
Pauline Hagen, New College’s Principal, said: “Our value-added scores reflect the fact that regardless of their prior achievement students who come to New College can expect to experience the teaching and learning which will enable them to exceed expectations. Value-added is one of the most significant measures of a school or college’s performance. Our performance tells a story about students arriving in college with below average achievement and progressing from college with grades comparable to students who have arrived with much higher achievement. This reflects the sustained hard work and dedication of students and staff.”
Value added data is used by the Department for Education to determine whether or not a school or college has helped a student improve their performance. If they have, this means the school or college has ‘added value’ to that student’s education.
