Physics student set for Norway Expedition

NEW College student Esme Lawrence has successfully gained a place on the British Exploring Society summer expedition to Norway.
With the help of a £1000 bursary from the Ogden Trust, available only to A Level Physics Students, Esme will spend her time there engaged in scientific research in oceanography and geology, and in trekking and climbing.
The 16 year old, who also studies Maths, Further Maths and French, applied for a bursary for the trip after hearing about it at College, and was accepted for the trip after having a telephone interview with the British Exploring Society.
Esme said: “I’ve never done anything like this before. It will be a fantastic life experience, and will help towards my application for university. I love studying Physics at College as it goes really well with my other subjects and what I’ve learnt so far will help me with aspects of the research on the trip.”
Head of Physics, Ned Prideaux, said: “It’s fantastic for Esme to get this opportunity, and it is great that the Ogden Trust is offering this opportunity for Physics students to widen their experience.”
