Paris fun for NEW College students

[headline margin=”margin-reset” type=”h2″]Students at NEW College in Pontefract got a taste of Paris when they visited the sophisticated city this month. [/headline]

Two sets of year 13 students from our Foundation Art group and our French group went together to gain experience of French life and culture, visiting landmarks of the capital including the Louvre and the Musée d’Orsay.

The five day trip saw students climb Notre Dame to look at the gargoyles and go up the Eiffel Tower. They also visited the Père Lachaise cemetery to look at Oscar Wilde and Edith Piaf’s graves and even found time to go shopping.

French student, Harriet Dee, said: “We visited museums, Montmartre and Place de la Concorde. It was a good experience – the metro became second nature once you knew how to use it.”

Art student Sally Truong, said: “I visited a variety of galleries and museums including the Musee d’Art Moderne, Pompidou, Museum National d’Histoire Naturelle and Galliera Fashion museum. We also visited famous landmarks such as the Arc de Triomphe, Catacombs, Love Lock Bridge, Notre Dame and many more.”

She added: “The experience taught me that Paris is a city which never sleeps, it’s an enlightened, energetic and passionate place. I can guarantee prospective students this is the most astonishing and overwhelming experience, one I simply didn’t want to end and one I recommend without reservation.”
