NEW College has achieved Leaders in Diversity Standard at Stage 3. It is one of only 5 institutions in the country to have achieved the award.
The award is aimed at organisations who want to become recognised as amongst the best in the country in their sector. Caroline Tyler from the National Centre for Diversity said, “Not many organisations have successfully completed this process. You should feel proud of the achievement.”
The National Centre for Diversity report singles out the progress made over the past few years under the Principal Pauline Hagen and the Senior Leadership Team, and observes that the “commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion is not only lead from the top but evidenced throughout the body of staff and students.”
The report also comments on student experience at NEW College, reflecting on the fact that they enjoy coming to college, feel safe and are treated with respect by staff. Overall, 90% of students regard the college as being fair, whilst 95% of staff reported that the college has equality and diversity policies in place, which are understood and followed.
