NEW College Pontefract has enrolled a record-breaking number of students this year, with over 2100 choosing the college. These large numbers come after an outstanding Ofsted report in May and a record 99.4% pass rate of A Level results in 2013-14.
The college has grown significantly in numbers in recent years. In 2008-2009 there were around 1660 students on campus, today there are over 2100.
To accommodate the large number of students, the college has already had several major building projects, and has more in the pipeline. This September saw the opening of the new Visual Arts Academy, with the grand opening taking place on the 4th October. A new Learning Resource Centre with three floors of resources and study space opened last year, whilst the Performance Academy opened in 2012.
2013-2014 A Level results are at record high with a 99.4% pass rate. Students Emily Hutley and Emily Baker have both progressed to Oxford University, whilst George Nettleton has been accepted at the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
NEW College is the first sixth form college in the UK to have received outstanding across the board under the new Ofsted regime.
