NEW College students attended an ‘US Girls festival’ in partnership with Wakefield College and Wakefield Council this month, raising the profile of female sports.
The aim of the day was for the students to promote physical activity amongst women and give them an opportunity to experience a number of sporting activities they wouldn’t normally do.
With an emphasis on women of all ages, sizes and ethnicities taking part, the event included a chance to try badminton, boxing, cheerleading, double Dutch, judo, netball, rugby, Soccercise and sumo suit wrestling.
All girls from both colleges ended the day by taking part in a large Zumba master class.
