New College’s students’ results are “out of this world”

New College has recorded its highest set of results ever, breaking last year’s outstanding figures.
The 2015 A level results saw the college achieve a 100% pass rate for the first time. New College’s Principal, Pauline Hagen described the results as “a reflection of both the very high standards set by teachers and the way in which students set out to achieve and exceed these”.
The college’s 100% pass rate was matched with a record-breaking high grade rate (A*, A or B) of 56%, 9% above the national rate and an increase of 5% on last year. Additionally, 82% of student achieved A* to C grades.
Students on BTEC programmes also performed exceptionally well, with 100% pass rate and a high grade rate of 96%. Many students achieved the top grade of Distinction Star, including Gareth Ward, Lauren Allen, Eram Akhtar, Bethany Burgess and Georgia Sykes.
At AS level, the halfway point, results exceeded national rates comfortably and saw almost half of AS students achieve a high grade pass.
New College’s Principal, Pauline Hagen, said: “This is an amazing set of results and I am proud of every one of our students. But it doesn’t happen by accident. Our teachers work tirelessly and invest huge amounts of time and effort in our students. And our students work with their teachers to achieve high aspirations and challenging targets. The net result of all this is the success of our students and their progression to a range of destinations.”
