Music student Hannah Higson at New College Pontefract has passed her grade 8 harp with a distinction grade.
The year 12 student, who also studies physics, maths and chemistry, passed the music examinations with the highest marks possible.
Hannah said: “The exam felt like a challenge but one I was looking forward to tackling as Grade 8 is the highest and final grade. I had huge support from New College, my subject teachers either gave me homework in advance or extended their deadlines so I could practice!”
She added: “Sue, my piano teacher, practiced the Aural Tests with me and gave me lots of hints and tips. I was absolutely thrilled with my result, I was hoping to achieve a Merit so to get a Distinction was unbelievable! It took a couple of weeks for it to fully sink in!
Michelle Colvill, New College Head of Performing Arts, said: “This is truly an outstanding result for Hannah and thoroughly well deserved.”
