Students from New College Pontefract visited Krakow in Poland this weekend as part of their studies at the Sixth Form College.
A group of 26 psychology students went on a 4 day excursion to visit Auschwitz and Birkenau concentration camp, Schindler’s factory, and the Jewish ghetto.
Lindsay Barnes, New College teacher of psychology, said: “We questioned the motives behind the genocide during the holocaust and used psychological theories of obedience to explain the behaviour. We also explored historical sites and experienced local culture. The students conducted themselves very well throughout and gained lots of insight into one of the most shocking periods in history.”
